What is Equity?




EquityNewOrleans is a citywide initiative of the Office of Mayor Mitch Landrieu funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. In partnership with the Foundation for Louisiana, EquityNewOrleans sought to identify how city government could begin to understand and address equity in City of New Orleans in a data-driven, strategic manner to identify the best and most immediate opportunities for the City to demonstrate equity in policies, programs and service delivery.

Current Work

Since taking office in 2010, Mayor Mitch Landrieu has directed City government to address opportunity gaps across generations.

Utilize data-driven policies & practices by:

Setting and monitoring stated goals for achieving racial equity

Documenting and tracking related community conditions overtime

Setting goals for improving results and mechanisms for tracking progress

Establish external partnerships with institutions & the community

Working in partnership with other local and state institutions and community
